Pipe Band Tutor

Piers Dover

Piers began bagpiping at the age of 10, where he received tuition from Richard Hawke at St Andrew’s College. He took to them very quickly and within two years reached the A band - winning the Grade 2 national title in 2009.

After school he joined the Canterbury Caledonian Grade 1 pipe band and has played with band ever since, winning eight national titles and competing four times with the band at the world pipe band championships. Piers is currently Pipe Sergeant of the band.

Piers is also one of New Zealand’s top solo pipers and competes across the country and in Scotland. He has also competed in Scotland on the solo boards over the last two years, picking up prizes around the highland games.
