The number of families signing up to our Hold the Line 'Til Year 9 Parent Pledge continues to increase. There are now 10 classes with active pledges: 3A is the new class this week. Ten pledges per class are needed to activate the pledge. If you would like to sign up, please use the following link: Sign the Pledge.
The pledge is a way to commit to delaying smartphone ownership for your child until at least Year 9. It aligns with the College’s position of encouraging free, unstructured play, adults modelling healthy tech habits, and introducing social media gradually and thoughtfully – ideally not before age 16. If you missed the recent StACTalk on this topic, you can view the slides here: View the Presentation Slides. You can also watch the StACTalks: Smartphones, Social Media and Well-Being video by clicking here.
Following on from the StACTalk, we’re pleased to offer a series of café mornings to continue the conversation around technology, smartphones, and student well-being. These informal sessions will provide:
Venue: Preparatory School Library
Time: Tuesdays, 8.45am–9.30am
Session Schedule:
Parents/caregivers are welcome to purchase a coffee from Staccato Café upstairs before heading to the Library. No RSVP is required to join these sessions.
We look forward to welcoming you and continuing this important conversation together.
Regards
Jonathan Bierwirth
Principal of Preparatory School
Deputy for Rector
At the ISSA Winter Tournament, Preparatory School students delivered impressive performances across multiple sports. The Years 5–6 netball team secured a strong second place finish, losing only one match to St Margaret’s College. The Years 7–8 netballers earned a memorable win over St Margaret’s College, the eventual champions, while facing a challenging competition against taller squads. The Years 5–6 Mixed hockey team demonstrated great teamwork to place third, while the Years 5–6 football team showcased strategic play and fast footwork to claim second place. The standout achievements of the day came from the Years 7–8 Mixed hockey team and the Years 7–8 football team, both of whom dominated their matches and finished the tournament unbeaten.
