The Cafeteria is open before school, at morning interval and at lunchtime. Fair prices are charged and profits are utilised to provide amenities for the College. The tables in the Cafeteria are to be left clean and rubbish is to be put in the receptacles provided.
From 2024, the College Cafeteria will be cashless for morning tea and lunch.
The College Shop – Thistles is located next to the Normans Road carpark, adjacent to the Rentoul Senior College. Please check the webpage to see the shop's hours of operation. Alternatively, you may phone +64 3 940 2032 to confirm these details.
General stationery items are available from the College Shop for purchase throughout the year. All purchases from the College Shop may be charged to the student’s account, with EFTPOS available.
The College PTA runs a Second-hand Uniform Shop on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.00pm–4.30pm in term time. The Second-hand Uniform Shop is located beside the College Shop, next to the Normans Road carpark.
The St Andrew’s uniform is only available from the College Shop or the Second-hand Uniform Shop. Click here to view the 'Uniform and Grooming' section for the uniform requirements.
Please note, neither of the College shops (Thistles and second-hand) accept cash payments. Our decision to transition to a cashless system has been led by a natural decline in cash payments, as well as to streamline operational administration tasks, and making transactions more efficient – thereby reducing waiting times for customers.
The preferred payment method in Thistles is for items to be charged to student accounts. Credit cards (except Amex) and debit cards are also accepted.
The Second-hand Uniform Shop accepts credit and debit cards (except Amex), and students are also able to pay by direct deposit to the College's bank account. The preferred payment is by card, due to ease of reconciliation for the PTA volunteers who manage the shop.
All Year 9, as well as new Year 10 and 11 students are issued a locker. Lockers are provided for students to keep their belongings safe. Bags should never be left unattended and must always be locked away when not in use. Students must provide their own locks. Combination locks are discouraged and padlocks with keys preferred. Spare keys can be kept in the Middle School reception office. Locks are available for purchase at the College Shop if required.
Students must retain the locker that is issued to them. Lockers cannot be swapped with another student unless permission has been given by a Dean or Middle School staff member.
Lockers must be emptied at the end of every term.
Student Reception
The student reception co-ordinates the range of services available to students and is the general point of contact for attendance, arranging meetings with Deans, and the Head of Middle School.
If a student arrives late or leaves the College campus during the day, they must sign in and out at the Middle School Office.
Purchase of tickets for various events can be done online at stac.nz/Events.
College Reception Hours
The College Reception is open for general enquiries from 8.00am–5.00pm, including during the College holidays 8.30am–4.30pm. Phone: +64 3 940 2000.
All bikes, scooters, and skateboards must be stored in the locked racks provided by the College. To ensure security, students should provide their own individual locks or get a loan one from the Middle School Office. Bikes, scooters and skateboards may not be ridden on the school grounds during the school day until 4.00pm. St Andrew’s College does not assume liability for bikes, scooters and skateboards brought to school.
