Message from the Rowing Manager

To all our new rowers and parents, welcome! We are delighted to have you with us and hope you thoroughly enjoy being part of our rowing community. We look forward to seeing you at regattas, fundraising events and gatherings throughout the year.

Welcome to the 2026–2027 season of rowing at St Andrew’s College.

It is fantastic to see so many returning and new faces joining us this season and particularly encouraging to see continued depth and strength across our senior age groups. 

During the off-season, there has been significant planning and preparation for the year ahead. We are pleased to welcome new parents to the Parent Committee, led by Stacy Scott. We have also appointed a new Head Coach, Adam Ling, and a new Teacher in Charge (TIC), Joe Bennion, alongside several excellent additions to our coaching team. These appointments strengthen our programme and ensure we can continue to provide high-quality coaching with an excellent athlete-to-coach ratio. 

Our Head of Values and Culture, Hamish Bell, Teacher in Charge, Joe Bennion, and other staff members will support our rowing programme throughout the season in a pastoral care capacity. We are incredibly fortunate to have staff who are so passionate about rowing and committed to supporting our athletes.

Rowing is a demanding sport and requires both personal dedication and financial commitment. However, the rewards can be immense. At St Andrew’s College, we believe rowing develops life skills such as teamwork, organisation, prioritisation, self-motivation, resilience and perseverance. It is also a sport where lifelong friendships are formed.

We are committed to creating an environment where every rower is challenged, valued, and supported. We are also investing significant effort into ensuring the rowing season is as enjoyable and rewarding as possible for everyone involved. 

We look forward to the support of our entire rowing community throughout the season, including both new and returning families. As the saying goes, “It takes a village” and we delighted to welcome you to ours.
