Rowing Handbook – 2025/2026 Season

“We believe rowing at St Andrew’s College develops core skills such as teamwork, organisation, prioritisation, self-motivation and resilience, and is a sport where life-long friendships are developed.”

Message from the Rowing Manager

To all our new rowers and parents – welcome! We are so pleased you are here, and we hope you enjoy yourselves. We look forward to seeing you at regattas, fundraising events and gatherings throughout the year.

Welcome to the 2025–2026 season of rowing at St Andrew’s College.

It is great to have large numbers of new and old faces back again this season and is particularly pleasing to see continuous depth in the senior age groups across the squad.

During the off season there has been a lot of discussion and planning for the coming season. New parents have joined the parent committee headed by Craig Lewis and we have also added some great people to our coaching team, enabling us to provide quality training at a great athlete-to-coach ratio.

Head of Values and Culture, Hamish Bell, Agriculture and Science Teacher, Liam Smith, Science teacher, Georgia Boyes and other staff on occasion will be supporting our rowing club in a pastoral care capacity throughout the season. We are very fortunate to have staff so passionate about rowing.

Rowing is a demanding sport and requires both personal and financial commitment. However, the payoff can be huge. We believe rowing at St Andrew’s College develops core skills such as teamwork, organisation, prioritising, self-motivation, and resilience. It is also a sport where lifelong friendships are made.

We are committed to creating an environment where rowers are challenged, valued, and supported. We are also putting a lot of work into making the rowing season as enjoyable as possible.

We look forward to the support of the whole crew for the upcoming season, including all the new and existing parents. I’m sure you have all heard the saying ‘it takes a village’ – welcome to ours!
