Eating the right foods at the right time will have a huge effect on maximising trainings and on being able to perform both physically and mentally during long regattas and camps. Over the last two seasons coaches have educated and enforced rowers to eat before and after each training. Muesli bars are usually the go to snack as they are easy to transport, low cost and have a good mixture of high and low GI carbohydrates. Day students need to bring their own pre and post row food to trainings. This food will be provided at the sheds for boarders.
Eating well is as important as turning up to training on time. Therefore, during camps and regattas, ‘junk food’ and ‘refined sugars’ will be very closely monitored. There is plenty of food available on camp, including some baking.
When travelling, the expectation is that rowers will bring a bottle of water, some fruit, and a snack such as mixed nuts or a muesli bar. Junk food is not permitted.
Breakfast
Rowers need to eat a proper breakfast each morning, a minimum of at least toast or cereal. For early races, rowers must get up early enough to eat before racing.
Boat Park
Replacement drinks, water, muesli bars and fruit are provided at the Boat Park for rowers after on-water training and racing.
Dinner
Dinner is held at the Lodge in the campground.
Snacks
Rowers will be asked to provide an ice-cream container of home baking for regattas and training camps. Home-baked is preferred over processed, bought baking.
