Cost

Rowing is often seen as an expensive sport; however, our rowers get great value from the money spent. In a standard season, a rower spends around 25–35 nights away, has access to equipment worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, and receive great coaching.

Year 9 Novices

There is a fixed fee invoiced to your College account near the beginning of the season, which includes Avon Rowing Club membership, NZSSR and CRA affiliation fees, St Andrew's College capital, maintenance and coaching levy.

The fixed fee is $1400 per rower, and the upfront payment for coxswains is $1000.

Each regatta and training camp is ‘user pays’. After each regatta, the costs for food, accommodation, transport, and entry fees will be disbursed to your child’s College account.

Last season, a two-day (away) regatta was approximately $300 each, and a seven-day training camp was approximately $650 each.

Typically, a Year 9 novice rowing family spends between $2000–$3,000, including the initial fixed fee.
